Configuring Microsoft Outlook XP

To create a new email account in Microsoft XP for sending and receiving email through Aledo BroadBand's mail servers, follow these steps: 

 

1. Open Microsoft Outlook and click on Tools -> Email Accounts

 

2. In the Email Accounts dialog box, click on the Add a new e-mail account option. 

Click Next

 

3. On the Server Type screen, select POP3.

Click Next.

 

 

 4. The  Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) screen is where you type in the particulars for your email account.


Your Name: Whatever you put here is what people will see when they receive an email from you. It can be your personal name, your business name, your initials, etc.

E-mail Address: Your full email address goes here (eg: johndoe@aledobb.com). 

Incoming mail server (POP3): Type mail.aledobb.com

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Type mail.aledobb.com

User Name: This is your FULL email address (eg:if your email address is janedoe@aledobb.com, do not use janedoe. Use janedoe@aledobb.com).  

Password: Type in your password and click the Remember password option. If you want to change your password, click here. If you do not remember your password, contact our support staff

NOTE: If this is a laptop and you travel, or if you are a DSL customer, press the More Settings button and select the option for "My server requires authentication".

Once you've put in all your details, click on the Next button and then the Finish button.
